Brazil Northern Region
Amazonica Energy developed the Uirapuru Gas & Energy Project with the objective of expanding the supply of natural gas in northern Brazil, mainly to serve industries, miners, steel mills, fertilizers, as well as navigation and power generation companies.
The main objective of the Uirapuru Gas and Energy Project is, therefore, to bring natural gas to large cities, such as Manaus and Porto Velho, for example, where there is a strong repressed demand for this fuel, as well as to isolated regions that are totally dependent on diesel and fuel oil for energy production and industrial processes.
Phase 1 of the Uirapuru Gas & Energy Project, whose commercial operation date (COD) is scheduled for July 2023, comprises the deployment of an LNG terminal in Manaus, capital of Amazonas state, with a Floating Storage Regasification Unit - FSRU.
The transportation of LNG from the original liquefaction station to the terminal in Manaus will be in charge of international LNG suppliers with whom Amazônica Energy is currently negotiating long-term supply contracts.
LNG will be transported to end customers by local shipping companies with which Amazonica Energy has strategic partnerships, using small scale LNG barges design especially for this purpose.
